After a long day of being the therapist, the parent, the business owner, the everything-er, my brain needs a different kind of nourishment at night, and lately, it’s been The Voice.
(Thank you, Netflix, for sparing me the suspense of commercials. Praise be for instant battle results!)
But here’s what I realized tonight: I don’t just love The Voice because it’s entertaining — I love it because it’s healing.
It takes me completely out of work mode. There’s something grounding about watching other people take big emotional risks on stage while I get to simply witness. No note-taking, no analyzing, no managing. Just feeling.
It’s also so positive. In a world, and a field, that can feel heavy, these judges are out here dishing out hope and encouragement like it’s confetti.
Snoop, your calm wisdom could regulate a whole nervous system.
Michael Bublé? That blend of humor and heart could probably lower cortisol levels in a ten-mile radius.
Queen Reba’s mama-bear energy makes you believe you can do anything — like, anything.
And Niall… whatever that magical Irish sweetness is, it’s like emotional honey for the soul.
And the performers? My God, they’re inspiring. It’s not just the talent; it’s the courage. Watching someone stand in their truth, open their mouth, and let the world hear them… that’s a masterclass in authenticity.
Every time I watch, I’m reminded that this is what healing often looks like: finding your voice, risking being seen, and letting people witness your truest self — even when your hands are shaking.
So yeah. I’ll keep streaming, keep cheering, and keep refilling my cup one performance at a time.
Because sometimes, the best self-care isn’t deep, it’s just joyful.
And if Michael, Reba, Niall, and Snoop ever want to start a therapist support group, I’ll bring the snacks.
And if you missed that moment that Snoop comforted her, here it is. Go watch it for yourself! Sweet Snoop!
💛 Finding your way, one joyful note at a time.
